I love stone paper! It is water proof, ink doesn’t smear, and the texture is soft to touch, but still durable enough for regular use.This journal has an attractive granite-colored, hard-cover and a band to keep it closed. The paper thickness is thinner than wood-based paper, but the higher quality materials in stone paper allows the same strength.At $27 this is considerably more costly than a wood-based paper note book, but for me the quality is worth the extra cost.
I am not sure why this is specifically marketed for men because it is simply a really nice blank journal that would work for anyone. I almost feel guilty about writing in this book.The paper feels very nice, very smooth. The outside is called "vegan leather", I'm not sure what that means exactly but it doesn't feel like real leather. It's still very nice and feels like an expensive notebook or journal.It has a good weight, not too heavy or too light.I'm looking forward to filling it with my affirmations and logging my successes.
Overall this is a nice journal. The biggest thing to keep in mind when buying this journal/sketchbook is the paper type. This book uses stone paper and as a result is a bit softer than your average notebook or journal. What this means is that ballpoint pens and other heavy flow writing instruments might not work as well, so I used erasable gel pens as recommended. That said, the paper is waterproof and if I spill my drink, I can easily wipe it off and it doesn't tain. I highly recommend using the frixion erasable gel pens and tools recommended for this type of paper. It is also pocketable in terms of back pockets, but it's still a little on the large side due to the cover and overall thickness of the book. In terms of value, this is an expensive sketchbook. While you are paying for premium paper and a premium build (vegan leather) it looks expensive and luxurious.
Love this sketchbook journal - even though it's marketed as a "men's" journal, every page is blank so there's really no reason it can't be used by any gender person. This is the only reason for the star deduction, actually - as I feel like it might be deterring a large part of the market that would find it to be exactly what they're looking for!!Great quality paper, very thick and easy to write/draw on. The hardcover binding is of great quality & while I haven't tested it out yet, the waterproof feature seems intriguing - definitely something a true artist (not just a work meeting doodle aficionado like myself) might appreciate.For the cost, I feel like this journal hits all the marks and is a good solid buy. I'd definitely consider buying again as a gift, for any gender artist 😌
